Meet some of the hardworking women and single mothers that our KOMA Karanth community supports and empowers!
This is Castillo RA. We built her a small home with a convenience store attached to it so that she can take care of her babies and earn a living. She took the opportunity and ran with it. She has refilled her store multiple times over and is running it successfully, making KOMA very proud !
I have a special place in my heart for single mothers. When my mother lost her eyesight, then her husband all at a very young age, she did not lose her will to fight. BUT, if the bank had not given her the job on compassionate grounds(she had no qualification), we would have been homeless and penniless. That job was our hand out of the deep dark hole. And now we at KOMA try to be that hand to other single mothers who are in similar situations, and oh how they blossom!
Hats off to single mothers ... much respect !
This is Belen Dagle. We set up a convenience store for her and bought her a sewing machine. She makes bedsheets, pillows, and other things. She has restocked her store several times and is doing very, very well with both her projects.
KOMA SARI SARI STORE AND TAILORING is her bread and butter. We have given her the project of sewing uniforms that are being sponsored for the impoverished children in the area. This is Maritess Velenzia and her daughter. We helped this single mother set up a ginger tea and cake business (with oven, ingredients, etc). KOMA GINGER TEA and CAKE is doing so well now. We often meet her running around delivering her ginger tea. Her mixer broke, so we made sure we bought a new one yesterday. KOMA CAKE AND GINGER TEA is her pride and joy.
We check with them regularly and are so happy with what they have made out of their opportunity. What is also amazing to see is how they all have a new shine on their face. Renewal of self-esteem and confidence do wonders to their smile, posture, gait everything. It's wonderful to see that unfold.
